You're charged once, at launch, based on your saved voter count at that moment. Every tier includes the same ballot and voting features — the price only reflects roster size. Email invitations, reminders, bounce handling, and the results-announcement email are included from the $5 starter tier up; the free tier sends none of these, and you distribute voting links yourself.
Adding voters while voting is open
You can add voters to a running election at any time from the election page. On an email-delivery election (any paid tier), new voters are invited by email immediately; on the free tier, they appear in the voter table with a link for you to share. If an addition would push the roster past your current tier's limit, you'll be prompted to upgrade: you pay only the difference between what you've already paid and the higher tier's price (a $19 small-tier election moving to the $49 medium tier pays $30). After the payment completes, the voters you pasted are added and invited automatically.
You can also upgrade ahead of time: on a running election, use Upgrade tier next to your plan to raise the limit before you need it.
The $5 starter option is chosen at launch time only — it shares the free tier's 25-voter cap, so it never appears as a post-launch upgrade. An election launched free stays manual-share for its lifetime, even if you later upgrade its voter cap.
Elections scheduled for a future start can be upgraded and have their roster edited freely (add, remove, import) right up until 2 minutes before the scheduled start, when the roster briefly locks so invitations go out against a settled list. Added voters are invited at the scheduled start, not immediately.
If you add voters before launching
If you're still in draft and add enough voters to cross into a higher tier before you launch, the launch dialog reflects the new tier and price automatically — and if you'd already made a payment on this election (for example, after an earlier cancelled/retried checkout), you're only charged the difference between what you already paid and the new tier's price, never the full new-tier amount again.
5,000-voter maximum
5,000 voters is the maximum roster size for a single election, regardless of tier. Larger organizations should split voting across multiple elections, or contact us to discuss your setup.
