Voters never create an account or set a password. Instead, each voter on your roster gets their own unique one-time voting link, emailed when the election launches (or at your scheduled start time if you set one) — on the free tier, you share each voter's link yourself instead (see below).
One link, one vote
Each link is tied to a single voter and can be used to cast one ballot. Once a ballot is submitted, that link can't be used again — there's nothing to log back into and change, which is a direct consequence of the ballot being secret: it carries no reference back to who cast it, so there's nothing to look up and replace.
No accounts, no passwords
Voters don't sign up for anything. They click the link in their email, mark their ballot, and they're done. This keeps the barrier to voting as low as possible — no forgotten passwords, no account creation friction.
Expiry
Voting links expire automatically 180 days after they're issued, whether or not the voter used them — closing off any long-lived link into an old, closed election.
If a link doesn't work
If a voter's invitation bounced, or they lost or mistyped their email, you can fix the address and send them a fresh link — the old one stops working the moment a new one is issued. See Reminders & fixing a wrong email address.
Free tier: you deliver the link
On a free, manual-share election the same unique, single-use links exist for every voter — the only difference is who sends them. Instead of an automatic invitation email, the admin copies each voter's link from the Voters table and delivers it themselves. On every paid tier, links are only ever sent by email — the admin can't see or copy a voter's link.
